No pressure, right? If your teenager is wrestling with a critical essay, struggling with reading skills or just can’t see the point of it all, I can help. Through one-to-one sessions, we’ll work together to improve their grade, build their confidence and maybe even spark a lifelong love of literature.
National 5 Tutoring
Tailored support for S4 pupils. We’ll build reading comprehension skills and the confidence to plan and write their first Scottish Text critical essays.
Higher English Tutoring
Aimed at S5 and S6 students preparing to apply to university. Concentrates on developing writing skills, deepening insight into the texts and building exam skills.
Advanced Higher Dissertation Support
For S6 pupils. Guidance to research, plan, write and reference their independent dissertation of up to 3,500 words with confidence.
Portfolio Support (National 5 and Higher)
Mentoring to help pupils develop their ideas, strengthen their writing and refine drafts with structured feedback, always in their own words.

I’m an English Literature graduate of the University of St Andrews, so I know the required texts inside out and how to make them feel less daunting (+ more interesting).As a qualified TEFL teacher, I’ve taught English to adult learners around the world. That means I’m good at breaking big ideas into simple, clear steps.I’ve worked as an advertising copywriter for more than a decade, so I understand how to develop writing that is clear, engaging and well-structured.I'm a working author. My first work of fiction is currently in development. I know first-hand what it takes to shape a story, and I love helping pupils learn the behind-the-scenes techniques.
